Food & Beverage Containers
We want your opened, flattened and cleaned Food & Beverage Cartons, like Tetra Pak, milk, juice, stock and yoghurt cartons. We send them to saveBOARD where these waste products are turned into low carbon wall linings, ceiling tiles and other building materials. Their building materials which in turn are circular i.e. offcuts go back to the saveBOARD factory in Hamilton to be turned into another board and the cycle starts again.
To complete circularity of this product, we supply you with the different buildings products made by saveBOARD.
Plastics
We are excited to be working with Future Post to reduce the impact of soft plastics as well as other plastics to landfill right here in Tasman. Please get in touch with us to discuss your needs to divert large amounts of plastics, like construction and timber wrapping, baleage wrap, other packaging material or other plastics in your workplace, farm or orchard.
Deconstruction & Construction Waste
Weka Peckers Recycling offers the deconstruction of buildings and sorting systems for building sites from home handy-man to larger building sites.
We offer the deconstruction of complete buildings, including its project management from the very start of decision to remove your building to a clean and clear site. We use a mix of manual processes and machinery where all materials that can be recovered for reuse are carefully removed and returned to our yard for further processing. Our deconstruction projects so far have yielded a diversion rate of up to 95% with a minimum going to landfill.
For builders, we can offer a presorting system at your site and the final processing at our yard for the reduction of construction waste to landfill. We also offer consultancy in regards to your waste streams and can facilitate waste audits. We also offer the diversion of soft plastics from landfill.
If you are doing a renovation or repair work, we can usually take on: reasonable sized off-cuts of material like framing timber, plywood & plaster board. If you are renovating please check in with us – we are likely to accept windows, doors, showers, baths, left-over material, & fittings etc.
E-waste Recycling
We offer the recycling of electric and electronic items, short e-products, or e-waste when they have reached their end of life. We deal responsibly with e-products; unwanted, working or not working. Every New Zealander creates an average of 19 kilograms of e-waste a year. According to calculations by the Ministry for the Environment that number is expected to rise to 26.9kg per person by 2030.
To ease the impact on landfill we offer the recycling of these products. After electrical safety checking (test & tagging) as well as testing functionality we may resell items. Otherwise, e-waste is dismantled to recover resources like metals, circuit boards or components.
Choosing e-product recycling over dumping to landfill is your contribution to a better environment in Tasman and a reduction to landfill. With your recycling fee you are supporting your local workforce and the minimisation of landfill in Tasman.

In addition, here at Weka Peckers we offer you different types of recycling outside of the recycling schemes covered by our local council. As these recycling schemes are not funded or only partially subsidised some incur a fee to cover the additional labour, freight and diversion streams involved.
